DESCRIPTION

Rachel Gonzales is a Filipina abstract contemporary visual artist with a background in architecture, fine art, and mysticism. Her work reclaims the female gaze to transcend form, creating paintings that serve as portals for human experience. A Rice University Bachelor of Architecture graduate, Gonzales has furthered her art education at The Art League Houston and Artist Inc. Houston. She is a founding member of Filipinx Artists of Houston and actively engages the community through art collectives and moon-phase workshops. Practicing at The Silos at Sawyer Yards, her work includes commissions for high-rise buildings, universities, churches, and private collectors, and has been exhibited in Houston and at the McNay in San Antonio.

APPROACH

Working with Rachel Gonzales, a fellow artist, to create a cohesive online representation of her artistic identity was an inspiring collaboration. Rachel wanted a dynamic website that reflected her love of the moon, the occult, magic, and tarot readings, alongside a platform to showcase her abstract artwork, CV, press, and shop. I thoroughly enjoyed translating these themes into a visually engaging website that captures her unique essence. Designing a matching logo and business cards to complement the site was equally exciting, ensuring a seamless and cohesive brand presence. Bringing Rachel’s vision to life was a rewarding experience, blending creativity and functionality to enhance her artistic reach.
